Quaker Research Grants
Swarthmore College. The Margaret W. Moore and John M. Moore Research Fellowship promotes research during the academic year or summer months using the resources of the Friends Historical Library and/or the Swarthmore College Peace Collection, providing a stipend to support such research. https://www.swarthmore.edu/friends-historical-library/moore-research-fellowship

Haverford College. Thomas Scattergood Behavioral Health Foundation Research Fellowship. With support from the Thomas Scattergood Behavioral Health Foundation, Haverford College Quaker & Special Collections will offer a $5,000 fellowship for researchers to use our materials related to mental health and the history of mental health care. Guilford College. The Seth and Mary Edith Hinshaw Fellowship provides up to $2,000 for research using the resources of the Quaker Archives at Guilford College to study an aspect of southern Quaker history. https://library.guilford.edu/archives/fellowships
Friends Historical Society (U.K.) The main FHS Hodgett Grant scheme awards small grants of up to £500. These grants are intended to help individual historians or groups, whether academic or non-academic, with their expenses in researching Quaker history, or in attending and delivering a paper at a conference or similar event. Awards
Quaker Studies Program Unit of the American Academy of Religion offers a $200 Lucretia Mott Student Essay Award. Outstanding student paper submissions that demonstrate creative analysis and/or introduce a new field of research and make an original contribution to the field of Quaker studies will be considered for the award.
Overview of Quaker archives
The grandparent of all Quaker research libraries is the Library of The Religious Society of Friends in Britain (Quakers), Friends House, London. It holds the archives of Britain Yearly Meeting.
Also in England, the Library of the Woodbrooke Quaker Study Center is a major resource for Friends in the British Midlands.
The University of Leeds in the UK holds Yorkshire Quaker Archives and a concentration of other Quaker materials.
The Canadian Quaker Archives, composed of the Arthur Garrett Dorland Reference Library and the vault, are located at Pickering College in Newmarket, Ontario
The Africa Quaker Archives was created at Friends Theological College in Kaimosi, Kenya, in January 2020
The Friends Historical Library of Swarthmore College is the repository of New York Yearly Meeting and a joint repository with Haverford for the records of Philadelphia and Baltimore Yearly Meetings. It’s holdings center in the Hicksite branch of American Quakerism.
The Quaker Collection, Magill Library, Haverford College, Haverford, Pennsylvania is joint repository with Friends Historical Library for the records of Philadelphia and Baltimore Yearly Meetings. The Quaker Collection also has extensive collections of publications and manuscripts in Quaker history. Holdings reflect Haverford College's long association with the Orthodox branch of American Quakerism.
The American Friends Service Committee Archives at AFSC headquarters has records and related materials documenting the full history of the organization since 1917.
The Friends Collection, Lilly Library, Earlham College, Richmond, Indiana is the repository for the archives for Friends United Meeting and many related yearly meetings. It is the major Quaker collection in the mid-western United States. Holdings reflect Haverford College's long association with Friends United Meeting.
The Friends Historical Collection, Hege Library, Guilford College, Greensboro, North Carolina is the center of Quaker research for the southeastern United States and has extensive archives of North Carolina and other southern Quaker records.
The University of Massachussetts at Amherst is the repository for New England Yearly Meeting.
The Quaker Room, Edmund Stanley Library, Friends University, Wichita, Kansas is the repository for the archives of Mid-American Yearly Meeting. The collections reflect Friends University's traditional association with the Evangelical branch of American Quakerism.
The Murdock Learning Resource Center, George Fox University, Newberg, Oregon is the repository for the archives of Northwest Yearly Meeting. The collections reflect George Fox University's traditional association with the Evangelical branch of American Quakerism.
The Quaker Collection, Watson Library, Wilmington College, Wilmington, Ohio is the repository for the archives of Ohio Valley Yearly Meeting.
The Friends Archives, Cattell Library, Malone College, Canton, Ohio is the repository for the archives of Evangelical Friends Church, Eastern Region. The collections reflect Malone College's traditional association with the Evangelical branch of American Quakerism.
Wardman Library Special Collections, Whittier College, Whittier, California includes materials related to John Greenleaf Whittier, Jessamyn West, Richard Nixon, and Jan de Hartog. Holdings reflect Whittier College's long association with Friends United Meeting.
